COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Garrett Burhenn had another good start and his bullpen backed him up with three hitless innings at the Buckeyes took game one of a huge four-game weekend series with Big Ten leading Indiana 3-2 on Friday night.

The win improves the Buckeyes to 9-7 on the season while Indiana losses for just the fourth time this year and is now 11-4 overall.

Burhenn was coming off his best outing of the season last Friday and he didn't miss a beat tonight vs. the Hoosiers. He was in control from the start, going six innings, allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out five. He picks up his second win of the season.

Patrick Murphy worked two hitless innings in the seventh and eighth. He did walk a pair of batters, but he struck out three and kept the Buckeyes in the lead. Closer TJ Brock came in and slammed the door in the ninth, going 1-2-3 with two strikeouts. Brock picks up his league-leading fifth save of the year.

At the plate, Sam Wilson went 3-for-3 with two doubles and reached base in all four of his at-bats. Zach Dezenzo also had two hits and an RBI.

Wilson lined a double to left to open the game and after a couple of one-out walks, he scored the first run of the night on a sacrifice fly by Kade Kern. The Buckeyes extended the lead to 2-0 an inning later when Wilson singled home Brent Todys, who walked earlier in the inning.

Indiana got on the board with a single and then a one-double in the fourth to cut the lead in half. In the fifth, Wilson again led-off with a double and moved to third on a flyout by Colton Bauer. Dezenzo ripped a single through the right side on the first pitch he saw to again give the Buckeyes a two-run lead.

Cole Barr homered with one out in the top of the sixth to pull Indiana back to within a run at 3-2 but that would be the last scoring for either side.

The series continues with a double-header on Saturday afternoon. Game 1 is set for a 1:05 first pitch with Game 2 to follow 30 minutes later.
