Ohio State Caps Fine Day at Husker B1G Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sprinters were dominant at the Husker B1G Invite, contested at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas, securing eight podium finishes and six wins in a meet featuring 12 Big Ten Conference teams and 100s of student-athletes competing.
Anavia Battle was the big winner not just for the Buckeyes, but for the meet. The senior was a three-time winner, adding 100- and 200-meter dash victories today to a 4×100-meter relay victory. The 200 was her first of the season and she won it in 23.19, not long after she won the 100 in 11.24. She out-raced 45 other runners to win the 200 and 33 other competitors to win the 100.
Junior Yanique Dayle was right with Battle in the 100 and the 200, setting personal bests in both events while finishing third in the 100 (11.53) and fourth in the 200 (24.04).
Eric Harrison continues to shine this spring. He won the 100 meters over 29 others with a time of 10.34 with Kainnan Ramsey fifth with a new personal best time of 10.45.
Battle and Harrison each ran the second leg of their respective team’s 4×100 victories. Devine Parker, Nya Bussey and Dayle joined Battle in winning in 44.70 while Ramsey, Adrian Curry and Tyler Johnson formed the men’s victorious 4×100 relay in 39.80. Each relay’s time was just outside of the nation’s Top 10.
Other Top 3 three finishes and personal bests on Saturday included:
- Mary Figler, third in the 800 in 2:09.46;
- Tyler Johnson, third in the 400 in 46.74;
- Kainnan Ramsey, personal bests in both the 100 (10.45) and 200 (21.42);
- Donnie James Jr., a personal best in the 400 (47.11); and
- Adrian Curry, a personal best in the 200 (21.58).
