Divers in Lexington at NCAA Zone C Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s men’s and women’s divers are competing today through Tuesday at the NCAA Zone C diving championships, being held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky., and on the campus of the University of Kentucky. Divers will advance from this meet to the NCAA Championships which are slated for March 17-20 (women) and March 24-27 (men) in Greensboro, N.C.
The men’s 3-meter and the women’s 1-meter events were held today with the top seven finishers on each advancing on to the NCAA meet. The Ohio State men have qualified three for the NCAA championships off today’s competition:
- Junior Jacob Fielding was the runner-up on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 791.50;
- Sophomore Lyle Yost was sixth with 739.25 points; and
- Senior Jacob Siler was seventh with a score of 727.85 points.
Big Ten co-Diver of the Championships and senior Joey Canova was 11th with 714.75 points.
The women had two competitors on the board today:
- Sophomore Mackenzie Crawford was 10th on 1-meter with a score of 541.15 points; and
- Senior Lexie Barker was 13th with 519.90 points.
The competition continues Monday with the men’s platform and the women’s 3-meter events.
The following are the automatic qualifying spots from Zone C to the NCAA championships:
Zone C: Automatic Qualifying Spots
1-Meter – Women: 7; Men: 7
3-Meter – Women: 6; Men: 7
Platform – Women: 10; Men: 10
If a diver auto qualifies for the NCAA Championships in one or more events at the Zone C Championships, he or she will be allowed to optionally enter any other event(s) at the national meet, provided that the diver finished in the top 12 in the additional event at the same zone meet.
