
No. 9 Buckeyes Head North for Two Matches

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team (13-3, 10-1 B1G) heads to Michigan for two matches this weekend. Ohio State will take on Michigan State (4-8, 4-7 B1G) at 5 p.m. Friday in East Lansing and No. 14 Michigan (11-1, 11-0 B1G) at noon Sunday in Ann Arbor.

In the Rankings
- New ITA team, singles and doubles rankings were released Wednesday, with computer rankings used for the first time this season.
- Ohio State is No. 9 in the ITA poll as a team. The squad started the year at No. 13 and moved into the Top 10 Jan. 27. The team was No. 10 last week in the rankings voted on by coaches.
- Irina Cantos Siemers moved to a career-best No. 15 in the singles rankings and the duo of Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais is No. 65 in the doubles rankings.
- The Tennis Channel/USTA poll was released for the first time this season Wednesday, with Ohio State ranked eighth.
Buckeye This and That
- Ohio State hosted Maryland and Rutgers last weekend, winning 6-1 and 7-0, respectively.
- In the Big Ten standings, Michigan is first with an 11-0 mark. Ohio State and Northwestern are 10-1. Nebraska is 9-3 and Iowa is 8-4 to round out the Top 5.
- Freshman Lina Ali posted a straight-set win against Maryland last Friday for her first collegiate dual match victory.
- Ohio State has won the doubles point in 13 of 16 matches this season, including in its 11 Big Ten matches. In doubles, the squad is 10-1 on court one and 13-2 on court three, with a 7-6 mark on court two, posting a 23-1 mark in B1G matches.
- Lucia Marzal (15-2) leads Ohio State in overall singles wins, followed by Irina Cantos Siemers (14-4) and Luna Dormet (13-1). In dual play Marzal is 13-1, Dormet is 11-1 and Cantos Siemers is 11-4. In Big Ten play Marzal is 10-0, Dormet is 8-1, Cantos Siemers is 8-3 and Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen are 7-3, with Lisa Hofbauer 6-3.
- In dual matches, the doubles tandem of Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais is a team-best 9-1, all on court one. The duo of Dormet/Cantos Siemers is 7-0 and Hofbauer/Marzal are 7-1.
Ohio State vs. Michigan State
- Ohio State and Michigan State met in Columbus earlier this season, a 6-1 Buckeye victory Feb. 26.
- All-time, the Buckeyes are 34-14 vs. Michigan State, with wins in the last five matches.
- The Spartans are 4-8 overall this spring, with a 4-7 B1G record. The team faced Michigan last time out, falling 5-2 in East Lansing.
Buckeyes vs. Wolverines
- The Buckeyes and Wolverines met in Columbus Feb. 28, with Michigan winning 4-3 in a match that came down to a third set tiebreaker.
- In the last 10 meetings between the teams, Michigan has a 6-4 advantage.
- Michigan, who will host Penn State Friday before the match vs. the Buckeyes Sunday, is 11-1 overall and 11-0 in Big Ten play.
- The Wolverines are ranked 14th by the ITA and 11th in the USTA poll this week. Michigan has three ranked singles players – No. 38 Kari Miller, No. 105 Jaedan Brown and No. 115 Gala Mesochoritou. In doubles, Brown and Chiara Lommer are ranked 57th.
- The Buckeyes were in Ann Arbor earlier this year, as they started the season at the Michigan Invitational, a hidden dual event.

- The Buckeyes will close the regular season with three home matches, hosting Minnesota April 9, Wisconsin April 11 and Penn State April 17. All three matches are slated to be played outdoors at the Auer Tennis Complex, with noon start times vs. the Gophers and Badgers and a 10 a.m. start vs. the Nittany Lions.
