
Buckeyes Shine at Silverston Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A select group of Ohio State men's and women's racers travelled to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Silverston Invitational Friday, a three-team event featuring the host Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State in addition to the Buckeyes. Ohio State's competitors performed extremely well, with nine wins 11 races entered. The Buckeyes did not send any field performers to the meet.
Junior Yanique Dayle picked led the way for the Buckeyes, picking up her first two wins in a Buckeye uniform after transferring from New Mexico Junior College, where she helped the team win the JUCO national indoor championship in 2020. Dayle set two personal bests in winning the 60 in 7.37 and the 200 in 24.35.
Freshman Marcia Sey won the 60 hurdles in 8.41 in addition to finishing second to Dayle in the 200 in 25.14.
Senior Aziza Ayoub, competing against a field that included five runners from Michigan and one from Michigan State, won the 800 meters in 2:12.49.
For the men, three of four Buckeyes ran to season's best times at 400 meters with senior Eric Harrison winning in a team-best 6.71 with Adrian Curry 2nd in 6.81 and Kainnan Ramsey third in 6.86. Tyrese Fajardo went a season's best 7.17. Harrison now has three wins this indoor season.
Nick Miller shaved a couple hundredths off his personal best to win the 800 in a Silverton Invite record time of 1:49.79 with Cameron Cooper 2nd in 1:50.19.
And another personal best led to another Buckeye victory as sophomore Adrian Curry won the 200 meters in 21.63 with Myles Marshall joining Curry with a personal best time of 22.13.
Next Thursday through Saturday the Buckeye teams will be competing at the Big Ten Conference indoor championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
