Buckeyes Conclude Regular Season Ninth in AVCA Poll

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its weekly rankings on Monday. The Buckeyes remained ninth in the poll after the conclusion of the regular season. View full rankings HERE.
This is the Buckeyes’ 14th-consecutive week in the top 10, continuing its program-record streak. The Buckeyes’ previous record was 10-straight weeks in the top 10 in 2004. Ohio State was selected as the No. 9 seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and will host the first two rounds on Friday and Saturday inside the Covelli Center. The Buckeyes face Howard on Friday at 7 p.m.
Ohio State (25-5, 15-5 Big Ten) began the final week of the regular season with a sweep (25-16, 25-19, 25-17) at Rutgers. The Buckeyes hit better than .400 for the third match this season and second against the Scarlet Knights. OSU began the match with 16 kills without an error and finished the first set hitting .526. Jenaisya Moore (14) and Vanja Bukilic (7) each tallied a season-high in kills, while Gabby Gonzales (13) and Rylee Rader (12) also reach double figures. The Buckeyes earned their 10th sweep (25-19, 25-23, 25-18) in Big Ten play at Maryland in the regular-season finale on Friday. The Buckeyes limited the Terrapins to hitting just .147, the 20th time this season OSU’s opponent has hit less than .200. Ohio State’s offense hit .355 on the match as Emily Londot and Gonzales combined for 28 kills, just one shy of Maryland’s total for the match.
