COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (19-5, 9-5 Big Ten) is slated for a two-match road trip this weekend, facing Northwestern on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET and No. 25 Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Both matches will be broadcast live on B1G+ (subscription required).
Last week, Ohio State split a pair of top-11 matches, falling to No. 11 Minnesota in four sets (23-25, 25-16, 15-25, 23-25) last Thursday before earning the sweep (27-25, 25-21, 25-23) against No. 9 Nebraska on Saturday.
- OSU was ranked 10th in Monday’s AVCA poll. This extends its top-10 streak to 11-consecutive weeks, which is a program record.
- The sweep against No. 9 Nebraska marks the second sweep of a top-10 opponent under Head Coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg and the first this season.
- Freshman middle blocker Arica Davis recorded her 100th career block against the Gophers, becoming the 10th player in program history to total 100 kills and 100 blocks during their first season as a Buckeye.
- Junior libero Kylie Murr totaled 30 digs against Minnesota, just one shy of her overall career high and a career high for a match lasting less than five sets. Murr now sits in a tie for eighth in program history in career digs (1,281).
- Junior outside hitter Gabby Gonzales and junior setter Mac Podraza each recorded a double-double in each match last week.
- Sophomore middle blocker Rylee Rader set a career high against Nebraska with 15 kills.
- Northwestern holds an 11-14 overall record and a 6-8 record in the Big Ten going into Saturday’s match.
- Last weekend, the Wildcats were at home for both matches, getting swept by No. 4 Wisconsin on Friday (17-25, 21-25, 15-25) and earning a four-set win (25-20, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22) against Indiana on Sunday.
- Ohio State leads the all-time series 56-24 against Northwestern but the Wildcats own the last three meetings. The Buckeyes are 22-13 when playing NU in Evanston, Ill.
- 25 Illinois enters the weekend with a 16-9 overall record and an 8-6 Big Ten record. Last weekend, the Fighting Illini were swept at home by No. 9 Nebraska (20-25, 20-25, 21-25) and No. 11 Minnesota (22-25, 16-25, 14-25).
- The Fighting Illini have two ranked wins this season – beating No. 4 Purdue on Oct. 1 and No. 13 Penn State on Oct. 30.
- Ohio State trails 46-40 in the all-time series against Illinois and is 18-23 when playing the Fighting Illini in Champaign, Ill. The Buckeyes won both meetings last season.
