
Buckeyes Ranked Ninth in AVCA Poll

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its weekly rankings on Monday. The Buckeyes were ranked ninth in this week’s poll. View full rankings HERE.
Ohio State (16-4, 6-4 Big Ten) began last weekend’s road trip with a four-set loss (24-26, 22-25, 25-18, 14-25) at No. 3 Wisconsin on Friday night. Mia Grunze recorded her 500th career kill during the match. Mac Podraza tallied a career-high 16 digs for her fifth double-double of the season as she also had 45 assists. Rylee Rader tied her career-high 14 kills as Gabby Gonzales and Jenaisya Moore also reached double-figure kills in the match. Ohio State totaled 55 kills, compared to Wisconsin’s 50. The Buckeyes dropped another four-setter (25-22, 21-25, 21-25, 21-25) at No. 12 Minnesota on Sunday. Podraza set a career high in digs again, tying a team-high 18 with Kylie Murr as Murr moved up to 11th in program history in career digs (1,205) while Podraza recorded her sixth double-double of the season. Gonzales was one shy of her career high in kills as she totaled 19 on the match to lead the Buckeyes, adding 13 digs for her fourth double-double. Moore and Emily Londot also reached double-figure kills as Hannah Gruensfelder reached double-figure digs. This is Ohio State’s ninth-straight week being ranked in the top 10. This is the second time in program history that OSU has been in the top 10 for at least nine-straight weeks. The only other time that the Buckeyes were in the top-10 for nine-consecutive weeks was in 2004.
