Buckeye Battle in Final of ITA Fall Tourney

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sophomore Irina Cantos Siemers and junior Kolie Allen of the Ohio State women’s tennis team traveled to Medina, Ohio, over the weekend for an ITA Tour Fall Circuit tournament.
The Buckeyes faced off in the tournament final, when Cantos Seimers posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Allen.
Allen was the tournament’s No. 1 seed, with Cantos Siemers No. 2, and both received byes to the Round of 16.

Cantos Siemers posted straight-set wins in all three of her matches, dropping just two games in the Round of 16 and four in the quarterfinals before winning 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinals.
Allen’s road to the final included straight set wins in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Allen prevailed in a match tiebreaker, coming back from a set down.
