COLUMBUS, Ohio–Here’s a recap of what has transpired in January 2020 with the Ohio State men’s soccer team.
Travis Morris Hired to Coach Goalkeepers
Brian Maisonneuve, who is entering his third year as head coach of the Buckeyes, announced the hiring of Travis Morris as an assistant coach of the Buckeyes men’s soccer team Jan. 23. Morris will coach the Ohio State goalkeepers, plan daily trainings, assist with recruiting and video work along with helping with day-to-day operations.

Five Buckeyes Names Academic All-Ohio
Five members of the 2019 Ohio State men’s soccer team were named 2019 Academic All-Ohio in NCAA Division I, the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association announced.
Parker Siegfried (sports management), a senior goalkeeper, Samuel Buzzas (business), a junior defender, Jack Holland (arts & sciences), a senior midfielder, Jake Scheper (business), a senior midfielder and Matteo Bennati (arts & sciences), a junior forward. were honored.

Thomas Gilej Added to Ohio State Roster
Brian Maisonneuve, now in his third year as head coach of the Buckeyes, announced Tuesday the signing of Thomas Gilej to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Ohio State men’s soccer program beginning this fall. He will be a freshman during the 2020 season.
Gilej, a 6-foot-3-inch, 180-pound, midfielder, is a native of Wuppertal, Germany. He currently plays club soccer for Wuppertaler SV in the U19 Bundesliga, where he served as captain in 2019-20. The team was the Regional Cup Winner three times (2017-19) and the league champion (2019).

Sam Mason Transfers to Ohio State
COLUMBUS, Ohio—Brian Maisonneuve, now in his third year as head coach of the Buckeyes, added Sam Mason to the 2020 Ohio State roster. Mason, a graduate of Big Walnut (Sunbury, Ohio) High School, transferred to Ohio State from Northern Kentucky.
Mason, a 6-foot, 185-pound, midfielder from Galena, Ohio, is the second member of his family to play for the Buckeyes. His older brother Zach, played from 2012-15 for Ohio State.

Siegfried Drafted in MLS SuperDraft
COLUMBUS, Ohio – New York City FC selected Ohio State goalkeeper Parker Siegfried in the third round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft Jan. 13.
Parker, a 6-1, 170-pound native of Granville, Ohio, finished his Ohio State career with 18 shutouts, No. 4 all-time. He posted six shutouts as a senior, including a 1-0 defeated of Rutgers in the 2019 Big Ten Tournament.
Ohio State to Play in Columbus Crew Spring League
COLUMBUS, Ohio –Ohio State will be one of eight teams competing in the Columbus Crew SC 2020 Spring College League in March and April.
Ohio State, a part of the North Division of the event, will play Bowling Green March 28 and Cleveland State April 11.
ls will take place April 19.
