Buckeyes Head to Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team will be competing at the 33rd Annual Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic this weekend. The tournament takes place Friday through Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.
The Buckeyes will be joined in the tournament by host Furman, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
The classic will start at 9 a.m. each day and includes flights in both singles and doubles. Friday will have two rounds of doubles and one round of singles, Saturday will have one round of doubles and two rounds of singles and Sunday will be one round of each.

Last Year in Furman
At the 2018 Debbie Southern Fall Classic, Luna Dormet won her singles flight and paired with Danielle Wolf to claimed their doubles flight title.
In the Rankings
In the ITA Preseason Rankings, three Buckeyes are among the singles rankings, with two doubles teams listed. Isabelle Boulais is No. 36 in singles, followed by No. 61 Kolie Allen and No. 79 Shiori Fukuda. In doubles, Allen and Fukuda make up the No. 49-ranked team and Boulais pairs with Danielle Wolf to form the 60th ranked team.
Fukuda in ITF Tourney This Week
Shiori Fukuda traveled to Lubbock, Texas, this week for the ITF 15K Team Luke Hope for Minds Tennis Classic. She won her main draw first round match over No. 5 seed Rasheeda McAdoo, 7- 6 (6), 1-6, 6-3 and was in action in the Round of 16 Thursday afternoon. In doubles, Fukuda and her partner play in the quarterfinals Thursday evening after a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the Round of 16.
Looking Ahead
Up next, the Buckeyes will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight at the USTA National Campus Sept. 27-29.
