
No. 14 Buckeyes Set for Sunday Match vs. Baylor

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 14-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team takes on Baylor at noon Sunday in the Varsity Tennis Center. It is the annual Kids Day match, with free pizza and shirts for youth. Admission is free. Both live scoring (HERE) and live video (HERE) will be available for the match.
Ohio State enters the match on a seven-match winning streak and is 10-2 this season. Baylor, ranked 46th in the ITA rankings this week, is 5-9 on the year.
In the Rankings
Ohio State is No. 14 in the newest Oracle/ITA Rankings released Tuesday.
The Buckeyes have three ranked singles players and one ranked doubles team. Kolie Allen is ranked No. 48, with Isabelle Boulais at No. 64 and Shiori Fukuda at No. 72
In doubles, Fukuda and Boulais are ranked 21st.
In the Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top 25 released Wednesday, the Buckeyes are ranked 10th.
Scouting Baylor
Baylor is 5-9 this year and No. 46 in the ITA rankings this week, with Livia Kraus ranked No. 67 in singles. The squad fell to No. 21-ranked Michigan, 7-0, Friday in Ann Arbor.
The Bears have wins over Wichita State, Prairie View A&M, Rice, New Mexico and UTRGV this season.
This is the sixth season in a row the Buckeyes are facing the Bears. Ohio State is 3-3 against the Bears all time. Last season, the Bears posted a 4-1 win in Waco. Ohio State won 4-0 over Baylor in both 2016 and ’17.
By the Numbers
Kolie Allen leads the Buckeyes with an 11-1 record in dual matches, while Isabelle Boulais is 10-1 and Luna Dormet follows at 9-1.
In doubles, Danielle Wolf is first on the team with eight dual doubles wins, followed by Boulais, Dormet and Allen with seven each. Boulais and Shiori Fukuda have four wins as a pair to lead the squad.
The Buckeyes have combined for an 11-1 record at No. 2 and are 11-0 at No. 3. The squad is 9-2 on court four, 7-4 on court one and 8-3 on courts five and six. In doubles, the squad is 8-3 on court two and has six wins on both court one (6-3) and court three (6-4).
Last Time Out
No. 14-ranked Ohio State took down Youngstown State twice Thursday in a doubleheader at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The first match had just one court go into a third set, while the 5 p.m. match wrapped up in straight sets all around. The Buckeyes won the doubles point in both matches and swept the Penguins 7-0 in the second match after a 6-1 win in the opener. Isabelle Boulais and Danielle Wolf led the Buckeyes with four total wins on the day, teaming up for two doubles victories and each winning twice in singles.
