COLUMBUS, Ohio—Will Grimmer has been named to the watch list for the Fred Haskins Award that is given each year to the most outstanding collegiate golfer. Grimmer’s success in his final season at Ohio State continues to produce great returns as he has positioned himself among those on the Ben Hogan Award watch list, was named to the United States Arnold Palmer Cup team, making him one of the top-12 collegiate players in the nation, and is the 11th ranked golfer in the country according to Golfstat rankings.
Since 1971, the Haskins Commission has been devoted to amateur golf and the presentation of the Haskins Award. This coveted trophy honors the year’s recipient and the memory of Fred Haskins, an obscure club pro that spent his life nurturing and mentoring amateur golfers. Past winners of the award include Justin Thomas, Bill Haas, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell, Tiger Woods and many others. The next iteration of the list will be released in mid-April and will be narrowed down to the top-15 players. The final list will be released after the NCAA Regionals and will be narrowed down further to the final top-10.
