
Ohio State Women Travel to Indiana for Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming & diving team kicks off the conference championship season at the 2019 Big Ten Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center on the campus of Indiana University from Wednesday, Feb. 20 through Saturday, Feb. 23.
The meet will be broadcast on BTN Plus for all sessions, and will be on Big Ten Network on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 10:30 a.m. ET.

TOP PERFORMERS
Ohio State owns 22 of the Top 10 times and scores in the Big Ten Conference, with top performances in every event category.
Junior Kathrin Demler leads the way for the team, appearing on the Top 10 list in four different events. Demler’s 200 Fly time of 1:55.53 is second overall in the Big Ten, as is her 400 IM time of 4:07.06. Additionally, Demler is ninth in the 200 Back (1:55.77) and in the 200 IM (1:55.53).
The 400 IM is perhaps the strongest event for the Buckeyes, with two additional Top 10 times along with Demler. Sophomore Kristen Romano, last year’s Big Ten Freshman of the Year, is seventh in the event with a season-best time of 4:11.32. Sophomore Katie Trace follows in ninth with a time of 4:12.44.
Three Ohio State divers appear in the list of top platform dives, led by junior Lara Tarvit in third overall with a score of 387.93. Sophomore Genevieve Angerame is seventh (269.33) while sophomore Lexie Barker is eighth (259.15).
Ohio State’s top relay squad is the 200 Free Relay, coming in third in the Big Ten with a season-best time of 1:29.85. The quartet of sophomore Freya Rayner, senior Maria Coy, sophomore Taylor Petrak and junior Rebekah Bradley achieved the time against Pitt.

OHIO STATE AT THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ohio State has won five team Big Ten championships; all five conference titles were captured in a five-year period from 1982-86 under coach Jim Montrella. The Buckeyes have also won 92 Big Ten swimming, diving and relay titles.
• Fifty-five swimming individual champions – Liz Li won three in 2018 (50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Fly)
• Twenty-four diving champions – last was Cheyenne Cousineau in 2012 (platform)
• Thirteen relay wins – the 200 Free Relay team of Freya Rayner, Liz Li, Macie McNichols and Maria Coy won the title in 2018 with a time of 1:27.08
