Ohio State at the Puerto Rico Classic

This year, Ohio State will compete in the Puerto Rico Classic for the eighth time at Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.
The teams top finish came in 2017, when they turned in a score of one over to capture fifth place. Will Grimmer led the team with a 12th place finish, carding 74-70-71 to finish one under overall.

The Course

The River Course at Rio Mar Country Club is a beautiful course situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the El Yunque National Forest, the only rain forest in the United States. The Greg Norman design melts into the natural terrain and features open greens, wide fairways, light rough, and shallow bunkers. The 6,945 yard course is one of the marquee courses in the Caribbean and has played host to the Puerto Rico Classic since its inception.

Buckeye Backdrop

Last week was a big week for the Scarlet and Gray as they defeated Rutgers, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Maryland in route to their first Big Ten Match Play Championship victory in the 14th iteration of the tournament.
Kevin Stone played a stellar tournament, finishing 4-0 and winning his matches by an average 3.25 strokes. For his efforts, he claimed his first Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors, becoming the second player to do so this season, making this the first season since 2008 that two players have earned the award.
Will Grimmer was named to the Ben Hogan Award watch list, putting him on the short list for the most prestigious award in collegiate golf. He currently ranks ninth in Golfstat and seventh in Arnold Palmer Cup rankings.
