Buckeyes Head to Ann Arbor for Michigan Invitational
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Michigan Invitational this weekend at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Buckeyes will be joined in the event by No. 14 Georgia Tech, Tennessee and host No. 10 Michigan. There is no team scoring (win or loss) at the event, which runs Saturday through Monday.

Each team will play three rounds of doubles and three rounds of singles. There will be up to eight flights in singles and four flights in doubles per round. Each team will play one round of singles and one round of doubles per day. The third set will be played to completion in singles. Points will be allotted for each win based on the following decreasing point value to determine the champion (singles and doubles) at the end of the weekend:
Win at No. 1 position — 8 points
Win at No. 2 position — 7 points
Win at No. 3 position — 6 points
Win at No. 4 position — 5 points
Win at No. 5 position — 4 points
Win at No. 6 position — 3 points
Win at No. 7 position — 2 points
Win at No. 8 position — 1 point
The Scarlet and Gray will kick off singles play at 10 a.m. Saturday against Georgia Tech. Shortly after, the Buckeye duos will take the courts to face Michigan in doubles at 1 p.m. Sunday Ohio State will take on Tennessee at 10 a.m. in singles and Georgia Tech in doubles at 1 p.m. Monday, the Buckeyes and Volunteers will meet in doubles at noon, followed by Ohio State vs. Michigan in singles.

The Buckeyes will open dual match play as part of ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Atlanta. Ohio State will take on host Georgia Tech at 10 a.m. Jan. 25, with Auburn and Kentucky facing in the other match in Atlanta. The winners and losers will meet Jan. 27, with matches at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The site winner will advance to the ITA National Indoor Team Championship.
Ohio State opens its home schedule the next weekend, hosting Texas at 6 p.m. Feb. 1 and Notre Dame at noon Feb. 3. Both matches will be played in the Varsity Tennis Center and admission is free.
