
Coughlin’s 67 Leads The Way on Day 1 of B1G Championship

BALTIMORE, Md. – Jeg Coughlin III made four birdies en route to a 3-under 67 and help push he and the Buckeyes into the opening round lead at the Big Ten Championship at Baltimore Country Club on Friday.
Coughlin III made four birdies and just one lone bogey in his lowest round of the season. He the individual lead midway through the round and in a three-way tie at the top.
Ohio State was the only team to card a sub-par round on Friday as the Buckeyes posted a 1-under 279. That was two shots better than the conference’s highest-ranked team Illinois and five shots better than Penn State.
Will Grimmer and Josh Wick each opened their tournaments with rounds of even-par 70. Grimmer doubled his third hole of the day but would play the final nine in a bogey-free 2-under to get back to level par. Wick made three-straight birdies from holes 10-12 and finished the day with four total.
Will Voetsch made nine-straight pars to start his day and would card a round of 2-over 72 while Daniel Wetterich returned a score of 3-over 73.
The Buckeyes are paired with Illinois and Penn State for Saturday’s second round. Wetterich will be first off for the Bucks at 9:45 a.m.
