
Buckeyes Win Against Akron and Purdue

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State Pistol team held their first match at home this past weekend hosting Akron and Purdue. The Buckeyes took the win over both Akron (6,375-4811) and Purdue (6,375-4,544) in Open, and fired a 3,189 in Women’s Team Aggregate while Akron and Purdue did not compete for Women’s Team Aggregate.
Emily Rust gained more record-breaking scores this past weekend in both Women’s Air Pistol (553) and in Women’s 2-Gun Aggregate (1,108). The women’s team consisting of Irene Li, Emily Nothnagle, and Emily Rust also had record-breaking scores in Women’s Air Pistol (1,594) and in Women’s 2-Gun Aggregate (3,189).
Three Buckeyes also set new personal bests this past weekend, including Sam Gens (Free Pistol; 544l), Shrenik Jain, (Air Pistol; 553), (Free Pistol; 480), (3-Gun Aggregate; 1576) and Emily Rust (Air Pistol; 553), (1108; 2-Gun Aggregate).
Highlights from this past weekend include:
- Cade Haiby and Irene Li shot their first matches of their collegiate careers
- An exhibition Air Pistol and Women’s Air Pistol Final were contested (EXHIBITION RESULTS)
- Sam Gens tied the school record in Free Pistol with a score of 544
- The Women’s Team competed for the first time, recording scores of 1594 in Air Pistol and 1595 in Sport Pistol for a 2-Gun Aggregate of 3189
The Buckeyes will next compete at the Rocky Mountain Invitational on October 28th in Colorado Springs, Colo.
