Eugene, Ore. – The Ohio State women’s 4x400m relay team – Maggie Barrie, Karrington Winters, Beatrice Hannan and Aaliyah Barnes – finished out the season on the final day of the NCAA Championships Saturday night at Hayward Field with an eighth-place finish.
The foursome circled the track four times passing the baton in cohesion to clock a readout of 3:31.36. The quartet becomes the second women’s 4x400m relay to earn First Team All-America honors in program history. The group of Chandra Krempel, Ayrizzana Favours, Ashley Caldwell and Jenna Griffin were the first to do so in 2008 with a sixth-place showing.
Also a bit of history to note, the men’s and women’s 4x400m relays combined to do something that has never occurred in program history. With both teams earning First Team All-America honors, it is the first time in Ohio State history that both 4x400m relays have placed inside the Top 8 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Oregon won the women’s team title with 64 points.
