
Seward, Marshall and Olatoye Win Titles at Armory Invite

Columbus, Ohio – Sade Olatoye won her fourth weight-throw title of the season on Saturday at the Armory Invite, Deshawn Marshall turned on his afterburners in the short sprints and DaJuan Seward captured gold in the men’s triple jump with a personal best.

Olatoye continued her dominant 2017 season Saturday morning in New York. The sophomore heaved the weight apparatus 20.93m (68-8.00) to secure a first-place finish. Fellow thrower Kate Deaton narrowly missed a personal best on her way to a second-place showing with a mark of 18.72m (61-5.00). In the men’s weight throw, Dylan Dyke launched a huge personal record of 19.04m (62-5.75) to place second.
Seward had himself a busy, but productive day. The sophomore catapulted himself a personal best 15.47m (50-9.25) to win his first triple jump title of the season. In the 60m hurdles, Seward also registered a personal record with a readout of 7.92 to place fourth.
Deshawn Marshall captured his second 60m dash title of 2017 with a blazing time 6.77 which he ran in yesterday’s semifinal to come away with gold. James Clark was just behind Marshall’s draft and he placed second with a time of 6.82.
In the 200m dash finals, the Buckeyes finished two-three in both sexes. Aaliyah Barnes (23.82) and Halimah Barlow (23.86 – personal best) ran stride for stride with each other. In the men’s final, Nick Gray (20.93) edged teammate Marshall (21.42 – personal best).
The men’s 4x400m relay closed out the meet with a season-best time of 3:11.94 to come away with gold.
Meyo Invitational Recap
Rachel Weber had another solid day on the mid-distance circuit on day two of the Meyo Invitational. Weber was the fourth overall, but second collegiate runner to cross the finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:07.89.
Sarah Kanney is now Ohio State’s third-fastest miler in program history; the sophomore clocked a personal best time of 4:46.00. Christina Frederick registered the fastest 3,000m run time of her career (9:35.56) to place seventh collegiately.
Alex Lomong’s best collegiate time in the 800m run (1:50.04) earned him a fourth-place showing in that event.
UP NEXT
Next weekend will be another split squad for the Buckeyes. The team will attend the Spire Invite and Tyson Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 11.
