Third Straight Conference Award Goes to Melton – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – For the second time this season and eighth time in his career, Ohio State junior Sean Melton has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week. This is the third straight week Ohio State has received this honor (Jake Martin – Feb. 6).
Melton had an impeccable showing at the Winter Cup on the parallel bars, rings, floor and high bar. Of the 42 athletes who advanced to the finals, Melton placed no less than sixth in each of his four events.
His best finish of the meet came on parallel bars where he replicated scores of 14.000 on both evenings of competition for a two-day total of 28.000 to finish third.
He earned a fourth-place showing on rings with scores of 14.750 and 14.500. He closed out the meet with a fifth-place finish on high bar (26.950) and a sixth-place result on the floor (28.150).
Melton’s three-score averages of 14.533 on the floor and 14.677 on the rings rank sixth and seventh in the NCAA respectively.
