Four Buckeyes Compete at the 2026 Pan American Championships

One Buckeye alumnus and three incoming freshmen will compete in Brazil this Wednesday through Sunday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Buckeyes are scheduled to compete in the 2026 Pan American Championships this week. Kameron Nelson ('25) and incoming freshmen Chane Cumbermack, Daniel Montes and Anthony Ruscheinsky will travel to Brazil this Wednesday through Sunday. More information can be found HERE.

Nelson is one of five athletes competing on the U.S. Men's Senior National Team for this meet. Since graduating from Ohio State, he's competed in four international competitions as a member of Team USA. Nelson finished fourth on floor at the 2025 World Championships. At the 2026 Cottbus World Cup, he was third on rings and fifth on floor. Nelson was a member of the winning team and individually finished third on vault and sixth on floor at the 2026 DTB Pokal Team Challenge. Most recently, he finished fourth on floor and competed on vault at the 2026 Osijek World Cup.

Cumbermack is competing for Trinidad & Tobago. He has trained at NOVA (level 10), FGTC (levels 6-10) and TAG (levels 4-6) throughout his years as a gymnast. While at NOVA, Cumbermack qualified twice to compete in the Regional Men's Championship. He also finished seventh in the all-around at the 2025 Xfinity Men's Gymnastics Championships and 14th in the all-around at the 2025 Men's National Championships. At the 2026 Men's Development Program National Championships, Cumbermack finished eighth in the all-around and was in the top 10 on floor, vault and parallel bars.

Montes is competing for El Salvador. He has trained at his father's gym, WOGA Gymnastics, since 2021. Montes has experience both at the national and international levels, recently competing in the 2025 Pan American Junior Games in Asunción. He's also competed at the 2024 Pan American Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the Central American Championships in 2018, 2021, 2023 and 2024. Montes owns 17 gold, five silver and two bronze medals from international competition. He most recently won the all-around and vault competitions at the 2025 National Championships, also finishing third on pommel horse. At the 2026 Men's Development Program National Championships, Montes' best finish was a bronze on vault.

Ruscheinsky is one of five athletes competing on the U.S. Men's Junior National Team for this meet. He is the reigning Men's Development Program National Champion on high bar. Montes has trained at the Salto Gymnastics Center since 2013. Ruscheinsky finished fifth in the all-around at the 2025 U.S. Championships. He first competed nationally at the 2021 Men's Development Program National Championships, winning high bar and finishing eighth on vault. Ruscheinsky has also competed at the Men's Development Program National Championships in 2024 (floor (fourth), vault (sixth) and all-around (eighth) and 2025 (rings (second), all-around (fifth) and parallel bars (sixth). Ruscheinsky was part of the runner-up team at the 2025 Elite Team Cup. At the 2026 Men's Development Program National Championships, Ruscheinsky led the Buckeyes with a fifth-place finish in the all-around, had the highest score of the competition on high bar and finished second on vault.
