COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team is taking its penultimate road trip of the 2017 regular season when it visits Iowa on Saturday. The Big Ten contest is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET.

HISTORY WITH THE HAWKEYES
The Buckeyes and Hawkeyes first battled on the hardwood in 1976. Since then, Ohio State has amassed 62 victories in 71 total meetings with Iowa. The Scarlet & Gray are riding a 15-match win streak against the Hawkeyes that spans the last nine years. Eight of those triumphs have come in three sets. Head coach Geoff Carlston has only lost to Iowa once during his 10 years at the helm for Ohio State.
HUGHES DISHES 3,000
On Oct. 27, junior setter Taylor Hughes became the eighth player in Ohio State history to surpass 3,000 career assists. She currently ranks eighth in the history books with 3,143 assists. She has dished double-digit helpers in every match this season.
BUCKEYES IN THE B1G
Hannah Gruensfelder bumped her average to 4.45 digs per set, which is good for third in the league. Taylor Hughes is also representing the Buckeyes with 10.25 assists per set (11th) while Lauren Witte averages 1.12 blocks per set (7th) and has a .329 hitting percentage (13th). As a team, Ohio State stands fourth in digs per set (14.95).
SCOUTING IOWA
The Hawkeyes are trying to bounce back after suffering losses to No. 22 Purdue and No. 1 Penn State over the last week. Iowa has one of the top defensive specialist in the league in Annika Olsen, who leads the Big Ten with 4.89 digs per set.
CARLSTON REACHES 400 WINS
Head coach Geoff Carlston has been in charge of three programs during his 18-year career, having spent the last 10 seasons at the helm for Ohio State. Carlston picked up the 400th victory of his career when the Buckeyes swept Rutgers on Nov. 8.
COUNT IT UP
During the last five matches, senior outside hitter Luisa Schirmer has tallied 10-plus kills in each outing. She is averaging 3.76 kills and 3.94 points per set during the quintet.
BACK ON TELEVISION
The Big Ten Network has picked up Ohio State’s match against Nebraska on Nov. 17 in St. John Arena. It will be the sixth televised match of the season for the Buckeyes.
