Ohio State Athletics Hosts Career Fair – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dressed to impress with resumes in hand, members of the Ohio State softball team took part in the annual Student-Athlete Career Fair on Wednesday evening inside the Huntington Club at Ohio Stadium. The event, which is part of an on-going effort by the Ohio State Department of Athletics to assist student-athletes in career preparation, featured representatives from approximately 60 companies and organizations.
At the event, student-athletes were provided the opportunity to discuss steps necessary to gain employment within the companies and organizations of interest to them. A variety of career paths were showcased, including representatives from graduate degree programs. Among the companies and organizations on hand were: ESPN, IMG College, State Farm, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, Limited Brands, Ohio Highway Patrol and the Columbus Fire Department.
Other career development initiatives underway at Ohio State include the annual Bucks Go Pro program, which allows student-athletes to intern in various areas both in the athletics department and campus wide throughout the summer to gain work experience. This summer, Shelby Hursh is working with the Student Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO) while Becca Gavin is interning with Buckeye Career, the campus-wide career services office. At least one softball players has taken part in the program in each of the last three summers.
