Kelly Opens NCAA Championships with 1-Over 71 – Ohio State Buckeyes

EUGENE, Ore. — Tee-k Kelly got off on the right foot in the 2016 NCAA Championships, notching a birdie on the very first hole. The Buckeye senior finished 1-over for the day, outplaying his pairing mates by three and six strokes, respectively.
Kelly ranks second among the six players competing as individuals and in a 19-way tie for 33rd overall in the 156-player competition. He opened his morning by splitting the fairway, executing a beautiful wedge shot and sinking a two-foot birdie putt on Hole 1. Kelly would go on to add another birdie to combat three bogies and complete his round at 1-over. He is four strokes off the pace of 3-under.
All three bogies came on the `Front 9,’ followed by a 1-under effort on the final nine holes.
Kelly is paired with Cameron Champ (Texas A&M) and Matt Lutz of UC Riverside for the second straight round on Saturday, teeing it up at in the final threesome at 2:32 p.m. PT/5:32 p.m. ET.
