COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State women’s tennis team, the No. 4 seed in the 2016 NCAA Championship, will host first and second round matches this weekend in Columbus. The Buckeyes will take on Youngstown State at 1 p.m. Friday, preceded by a match between UCLA and Notre Dame at 10 a.m. The winners will meet in the second round at 4 p.m. Saturday for a spot in the Round of 16.
All matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Varsity Tennis Courts. In the case of inclement weather, matches will be moved inside the Varsity Tennis Center. Tickets and Parking
The Ohio State men’s tennis team, the NCAA tournament’s No. 5 seed, will also play host to first and second round matches. Kentucky and Virginia Tech will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Buckeyes taking on Tennessee Tech at 1 p.m. The first round winners will face off at noon Sunday.
All-session tickets, which include all six matches (three women’s and three men’s) are $21 for adults and $12 for youth/students and can be purchased HERE. Single day tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth/students on Friday and Sunday. Saturday tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for youth/students when three matches are on the slate (once singles matches start during the second match of the day, prices change to $8 and $5). Children 2 and under are free.

Buckeye Notes to Know
• Ohio State enters the NCAA Tournament on a 13-match winning streak.
• The Buckeyes are 28-2 on the year, with the only two losses to Cal in the National Team Indoor semifinals Feb. 7 and at Miami March 16.
• With an 11-0 ledger in Big Ten matches, Ohio State claimed the outright Big Ten regular season title. The squad allowed just one team point (doubles vs. Northwestern) and outscored its conference foes 69-1.
• Ohio State defeated Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan to capture the first Big Ten Tournament championship in program history.
• The 28 wins are a program record, topping the 20 set in 2010 and ’15.
• Ohio State is ranked fourth as a team in this week’s ITA rankings. The squad has been ranked in the Top 6 the last 13 weeks (beginning Feb. 10), including time at No. 1. The squad started the year ranked 18th. Prior to this season, the team had reached a high of 17th in the ITA poll.
• Francesca Di Lorenzo was named Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Freshman of the Year. She was joined by Gabriella De Santis, Miho Kowase and Anna Sanford on the All-Big Ten Team. Ferny Angeles Paz received the Sportsmanship Award. Melissa Schaub was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
• Di Lorenzo was tabbed the ITA Midwest Region Rookie of the Year, while Schaub was named regional coach of the year and Adam Cohen received the region’s assistant coach of the year award. Kowase was the recipient of the Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship for the region.
• Di Lorenzo is headed to the NCAA singles championship as the No. 3 seed. She is the first Buckeye to earn a berth in the singles tournament since Monica Rincon in 2002 and the third Buckeye in program history to represent the school in the national tournament.
• Kowase and Sanford will compete in the NCAA doubles championship. This is the fifth time (fourth team) a Buckeye duo will play for the national title.
• Ohio State has a program-record 17 shutouts this season, including in 11 of the last 13 outings.
• The Buckeyes are 13-0 at home this season and have won a program-record tying 14 matches in a row in Columbus.
• Ohio State is 133-23 in dual match singles this year, with a 61-15 ledger in dual match doubles.
• Three Buckeyes – Francesca Di Lorenzo (12), Sandy Niehaus (11) and Anna Sanford (10) – all enter the NCAA tournament with double-digit winning streaks in singles. The doubles team of Niehaus and Gabby De Santis has won its last 11 matches.
Buckeyes in the NCAA Tournament
• Ohio State is making its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and the 13th appearance in program history.
• This is the first year Ohio State is a Top 16 seed and the first time the team is hosting first and second round matches.
• The Buckeyes will be represented in the team, singles and doubles championships for the first time since 2001 and the third time in program history (1999, ’00, ’01).
• Ohio State is 3-12 all-time in NCAA matches. The squad reached the second round three times — 2010, 2004 and 2000. The Buckeyes are looking for their first appearance in the Round of 16.
Ohio State vs. the Teams in Columbus
• The Buckeyes have faced off vs. Youngstown State three times, winning 7-0 in Columbus in 2014, 2013 and 2005.
• Ohio State is 1-0 vs. UCLA, downing the Bruins 5-2 in the 2001 ITA National Team Indoor tournament.
• The Buckeyes and Notre Dame have met 21 times, with the Irish ahead 18-3. The teams, which met each season from 1998-2010, last played Feb. 8, 2015, a 4-3 win by the Irish in South Bend, Ind.
