Buckeyes Ready to Battle on the Bayou – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team faces top teams from the SEC, Big Ten and Big 12 this Saturday, April 9, at the Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge, La.
LSU’s Bernie Moore Track Stadium plays host to the Buckeyes and home-standing Tigers, along with Alabama, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Purdue in a scored meet that is sure to provide a challenge for the Scarlet and Gray.
The Top-2 finishers from each conference in the 17 individual events score points with a 7-5-4-3-2-1 scoring format, while each conference’s top relay follow 7-5-4 format in the 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays.
Events begin at 10 a.m. ET Saturday and run through the 4×4 relays at 5:05 p.m. A complete recap will be available after the meet at OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Men 15th, Women 28th in USTFCCCA Week 1 Rankings
The Buckeye men are ranked 15th and the women 28th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Week 1 rankings, released April 4.
The men totaled 110.67 points in the opening poll of the regular season, second in the Big Ten behind 10th-ranked Illinois, while the women enter the regular season as the third-ranked team in the Big Ten (behind No. 24 Michigan and No. 25 Michigan State) with 74.73 points.

Nick Gray – No. 7, 400-meter dash
Bill Stanley – No. 13, javelin
Zack Bazile – No. 13, long jump

SoSo Walker – No. 8, 400-meter dash
Alexis Frankin – No. 17, 400-meter hurdles
Welcome Back!
The track and field team welcomes back several familiar faces for the outdoor season.
Aisha Cavin, the 2016 Big Ten outdoor champion in the 200-meter dash, made her season debut at the Alabama Relays. Cavin, a seven-time All-American, had previously exhausted her indoor eligibility and was not eligible to compete this winter.
Abie Ehimwenman, 2016 Big Ten indoor champion in the long jump, also debuted in Alabama. Like Cavin, Ehimwenman had previously exhausted her indoor eligibility and was not eligible to compete this winter.
Ohio State’s javelin throwers – Stanley, Jared Ballenger and Allie Missler – also return to competition this spring. Stanley, the Ohio State record holder and an All-American and Big Ten champion, is competing after sitting out for the majority of the past two seasons.
