BRYAN, Texas – Clark Engle returned to the Buckeye lineup for the Aggie Invitational, reaching familiar ground inside the individual leaderboard top-10. His most recent of nine career top-10 finishes came in the form of a ninth place showing at the 80-player Aggie Invitational.
Ohio State tied No. 49 Kent State for sixth place overall at 20-over (884) and ahead of No. 27 Texas A&M (+24), No. 15 Oklahoma (+32), No. 36 Texas Tech (+48), and most importantly, “That Team Up North” (+23). The Buckeyes have posted their lowest score in the final round for all three Spring tournaments thus far.
Engle overpowered three bogies with four birdies on Sunday, carding a 1-under 71 to secure the top-10 performance. Will Grimmer matched Engle’s first and third round tallies of 72 and 71, respectively. The latter leaped him 18 slots up the leaderboard on the final day into a share of 20th place. The Cincinnati freshman ripped off four consecutive birdies on Holes No. 5-8, igniting his substantial surge upward.
Tee-k Kelly opened with an even-par 72 as well before following with 73-74. His 54-hole total of 219 (+3) was good for a piece of 15th place overall. Each member of the aforementioned Buckeye trio has now registered four top-25 efforts during the 2015-16 campaign.
Josh Wick chipped in to the squad’s stellar third round, carding a 75 as the fourth contributor to the team tally. For the weekend he placed 74th at 22-over (238). Caleb Ramirez tied for 61st following a 76-76 Saturday and an 81 in his last go-around.
