No. 2 Buckeyes Shut Out Badgers, 7-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The second-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team shut out Big Ten foe Wisconsin, 7-0, on the road Friday in Madison, Wis. The Buckeyes swept the doubles matches and won five of six singles matches in straight sets against the Badgers.
The Buckeyes, now 16-2 and 2-0 in B1G play, host Minnesota at 11 a.m. Sunday. The match vs. the Gophers is scheduled to be played outdoors at the Varsity Tennis Courts but will be moved inside the Varsity Tennis Center in the event of inclement weather. Ohio State swept the doubles matches vs. the Badgers. Olivia Sneed and Francesca Di Lorenzo stayed undefeated this spring, winning their 16th match together, as they defeated Sydney Rider and Ekaterina Stepanova, 6-2, on court two. The No. 2-ranked Buckeye duo of Anna Sanford and Miho Kowase won over Lauren Chypyha and Kendall Kirsch, 6-3, on court one. Buckeye juniors Ferny Angeles Paz and Sandy Niehaus, ranked 38th, posted a 6-3 win on court three over Kelsey Grambeau and Lauren Burich.
Sneed won 6-1, 7-5 Kelsey Granbeau on court five to open singles, followed by Sanford winning over Stepanova, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2. Ferny Angeles Paz sealed the win, downing Kendall Kirsch, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4. Sneed and Angeles Paz share the Buckeye lead with 14 dual match wins this spring.
Kowase won on court three, 6-3, 6-4, against Maria Avgerinos, notching her ninth win in a row. On court one, No. 3-ranked Di Lorenzo posted a 7-5, 7-5 win over No. 43-ranked Chypyha. No. 113-ranked Niehaus won the final match in a super tiebreaker, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (7), completing the shutout.
