Buckeyes Start Strong at National Collegiate Pistol Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio— The 2016 National Collegiate Pistol Championships are underway and Ohio State is putting itself in position to contend for a third straight national championship.
In order to get here, head coach Donna Knisley’s squad had a great performance at the 2016 Intercollegiate Pistol Championships last month. Based off their performances in that competition, here are the Buckeyes currently competing this week:
Free Pistol Team qualified
Free Pistol Individuals: Mike Soklaski; Quentin Cauffman; Anthony McCollum; Seth Bearjar; Zach Dahmen; and Elizabeth Szalajko
Air Pistol Team qualified
Air Pistol Individuals: Anthony McCollum; Irina Andrianova; Elizabeth Szalajko; Mike Soklaski
Standard Pistol Team qualified
Standard Pistol Individuals: Irina Andrianova; Elizabeth Szalajko; and Mike Soklaski
Women’s 40-shot Air Team qualified
Women’s 40-shot Air Pistol Individuals: Irina Andrianova and Elizabeth Szalajko
Women’s Sport Pistol Team qualified
Women’s Sport Pistol Individuals: Irina Andrianova; Elizabeth Szalajko; Liz Buerling; and Kara Moody
Men’s 40-shot Air Pistol Individuals: Quentin Cauffman; Zach Dahmen; Seth Bearjar

National Collegiate Pistol Championships: Day One
The 40-shot women’s air and the 60-shot free pistol were held on Tuesday and Ohio State had a strong showing. As a whole, the team finished first in the 60-shot free event and sixth in the 40-shot women’s air. Individually, Andrianova placed fourth in the 40-shot women’s air and two Buckeyes finished in the top-10 of the 60-shot: Anthony McCollum (fifth) and Seth Bearjar (eighth).
