COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s soccer team fell, 1-0, against No. 25 Michigan State Sunday afternoon at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 3-8 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play, while the Spartans improve to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in conference action.
“We allowed a goal that I don’t think was a good goal – it was mental mistakes by our guys,” head coach John Bluem said. “We got punished for not marking inside the penalty area and they took advantage of that. They are a veteran team and are in good rhythm. We just need to regroup again and look to improve next week as we head to Maryland. Our guys are probably frustrated right now, but they will continue to battle.”

The Spartans controlled possession for the majority of the opening half and were rewarded with a goal. Ryan Sierakowski netted a goal in the 23rd of the game when he struck in a shot off a rebound in front of net. Brad Centala header’s from the near side hit the crossbar before the ball found the foot of Sierakowski at 22:57.
