COLUMBUS, Ohio – Father and son Buckeye combo Aldis and Mik Berzins had a big week. Aldis was officially announced as the head men’s volleyball coach at Stevenson University while Mik and his professional team started their season by capturing the Super Cup.

Aldis, an Olympic gold medalist on Team USA in ’84, takes over leadership of the Mustang program which reached the 2016 Division III semifinals last season and captured the team’s first Continental Volleyball Conference title. Stevenson finished at 26-8 overall.

Mik has been playing professionally since leaving Ohio State in 2012. He was the starting libero during OSU’s national championship run in 2011 and came back as a Third Team All-American outside hitter for the 2012 campaign. His 902 career digs remain the top mark in Buckeye Men’s Volleyball history.
