PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Freshman Will Grimmer put himself into contention for individual medalist honors at The Carmel Cup by firing a 4-under 68 on Saturday (Sept. 5). Competing in his first collegiate tournament, Grimmer is tied for second place individually and sits just two strokes back from the lead entering Sunday’s final round.
COMPLETE RESULTS AFTER ROUND TWO
Grimmer’s dip below par aided Ohio State in shaving eight points off of their first round score of 372, posting a second-round tally of 364. He quickly forgot a bogey on the second hole and buried five birdies over the last 16 bogey-less holes.
Sean Busch rose up in the standings as well following an even-par 72. For the event, Busch is 3-over and tied for 24th place. He has been steady throughout with 27 pars overall, the fourth most of all players in the field.
Clark Engle and Grant Weaver compiled matching scores for the second straight day, each taking 75 strokes on the day. For the tournament, both Buckeyes are tied for 30th place at 5-over (74-75).
Josh Wick rebounded nicely on Day Two, contributing a 73 to the team tally. His 1-over round ranked third on the team and gave him a share of 46th place overall. Tee-k Kelly registered a 77 Saturday to go along with his opening round 76. His 9-over two-round total is good for a piece of 41st place.
The final round is slated to begin at 10:10 a.m. ET on Sunday (Sept. 6).
