Buckeyes Conclude Day One in Ninth Place at Inverness Intercollegiate – Ohio State Buckeyes

TOLEDO, Ohio — Tee-k Kelly put himself into contention for a top-10 individual finish at the 75-player Inverness Intercollegiate, tied for 11th place following a 36-hole total of 147 (+5; 71-76) on Monday (Sept. 21). As a team, the Buckeyes find themselves in ninth entering Tuesday’s final round.
Much of Kelly’s success came on the Par 5’s where he went 2-under on the day, tied for the best rate of all players. He opened Monday shooting even par before posting a 5-over 76 in his second trip around the course.
Clark Engle and Will Grimmer are four shots back from Kelly, both tied for 29th place at 9-over. Engle contributed to the team tally in both rounds, carding scores of 75-76 while Grimmer utilized 13 pars (tied for the second-most in the field) to record rounds of 72-79.
Michael Bernard factored into the team score twice as well, finishing 79-77 (+14). The 56-total slots him 55th on the individual leaderboard. Sean Busch matched Bernard’s second round 77 after an 82 in round number one. He is tied for 63rd (+17) heading into the final 18 holes.

Ohio State will play alongside Mercer and Kent State in the final round. The threesome is set to tee it up at 8:02 a.m. ET starting on Hole #10.
