Men Finish Second, Women Sixth at Vanderbilt – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State cross country ran at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic Saturday morning in Nashville, Tenn. The Buckeye men earned a runner-up finish among 20 teams, while the women placed sixth out of 21 squads.
Placing three runners in the Top 10, the men totaled a team score of 68 at their first 8k event of the season. Sophomore Nick Elswick led the Buckeyes with a fourth-place finish in a time of 24:47.8, followed by sophomores Clayton Bowie (seventh, 24:59.3) and Evan Stifel (eighth, 24:59.7). Freshman Luke Landis (22nd, 25:23.9) and junior Patrick Kunkel (27th, 25:30.8) completed the scoring for the men of the Scarlet and Gray.
Senior Sakiko Minagawa was the top finisher on the women’s side with a 16th-place time of 17:30.0 as the Buckeyes totaled a team score of 161. Freshman Lilly Saniel-Banrey continued her strong start to the season with a 33rd-place time of 17:49.1. Three seniors completed the scoring for Ohio State: Minori Minagawa (37th, 17:50.3), Helen Willman (48th, 18:01.7) and Andrea McArdle (57th, 18:08.8).
