Borchers, Faust Named Academic All-Americans – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seniors Katie Borchers and Timothy Faust of the Ohio State track and field team were named Capital One Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. Borchers earned Second Team All-America honors, while Faust was named to the third team.
Borchers, from Russia, Ohio, was a three-time Big Ten champion on the track for the Buckeyes, who set or was a part of nine school records in her time Ohio State. She recently closed her collegiate career by earning Honorable Mention All-America honors at the NCAA outdoor championships. An accomplished cross country runner for the Scarlet and Gray as well, she was a two-time All-American, All-Region and All-Big Ten performer. Borchers, a 2015 Big Ten Medal of Honor winner, was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and four-time OSU Scholar Athlete, who also earned Academic All-District honors in 2014. She graduated in May with a degree in exercise science and a 3.73 GPA.
Faust, a native of Harvey, Ill., was a two-time conference champion and three-time Second Team All-American sprinter for the Buckeyes. In the classroom, Faust was a special education major with a 3.60 GPA, a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and four-time OSU Scholar Athlete.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
