For our last day in Pula we ran a clinic at the Dom SportovaGymnasium with girls aged from 10 to 17 years old. It was awesometo work with the girls on basic skills of the game and watch themprogress throughout the two hours we were there. We split the girlsup on two courts, putting the youngest on one court and the oldergirls on the other. We took them through drills that most of us runback at our respective schools and they were eager to learn how tocarry out those drills.
Nothing was more rewarding than seeing their smiles and hearing how excited they were that we came. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of their volleyball journey. Getting the chance to learn some of their language on their home courts was extremely rewarding.

Slovenia has been an amazing experience, from exploring the cityto competition days. For the last day in Slovenia we werecompletely on our own and got a chance to explore. We mainlyshopped, like typical Americans. There were a few boutiques andthen there was a huge mall called the Europark. The shops wereEuropean but had the same style as a Forever 21 or Pacsun. Not sureif everything seemed cheap or if it actually was. There was a shoestore that everyone loved and spent only 12 euros a pair. Takingthe bus back was simple and easy, ‘the 6’ ran from town all the wayback to Dra? Center [team’s hotel]. The tickets were only 1.10 euroeach way, and for the most part everyone spoke some English!Overall, the day was super fun and adventurous. We managed to getback to the hotel safe and sound. First few days were all traveling. A 12-hour flight is quite anexperience, if you have never been on one.
Today, we played the Slovenian National Team, and they were really good. After, we went to a nice dinner which had all types of traditional Slovenian food.
Something super interesting I learned on our tour was that only approximately two million people can speak Slovenian. There are variations of the language as well as new languages as a result of Yugoslavia dividing.
