Engle Within Striking Distance of Top Spot at Gary Koch Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

GASTONIA, N.C. – Sophomore Clark Engle sunk under par in both rounds Monday of the Gary Koch Invitational at the Gastonia Country Club. He fired 71-70 to go 3-under and earn a seventh place standing entering Tuesday’s final round. As a team, Ohio State is slotted seventh as well.
At 3-under, Engle is four strokes off the pace shared by Florida State’s Rowin Caron and Kentucky’s Cooper Musselman (-7). Redshirt junior Grant Weaver put himself in contention for a top-25 finish, tied for 23rd after Day One. He carded scores of 73-74 (+3) and is in pursuit of his 15th career top-25 performance.
Tee-k Kelly joined Engle and Weaver as two-time contributors to the team tally. The junior out of Wheaton, Ill., posted rounds of 75-76 (+7) and is tied for 45th overall.
Seniors Boo Timko and Logan Jones rounded out the OSU lineup, ending the day tied for 67th and 71st place, respectively. Timko registered back-to-back 78s while Jones followed an opening round 75 with an 82 in his second trip around the course.
