Stanford Invitational – Day 1 Highlights – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State track and field team opened competition at the 2015 Stanford Track & Field Invitational Friday in Palo Alto, Calif.
Senior Katie Borchers highlighted day one on the West Coast for the Buckeyes, setting a new Ohio State outdoor record in the 1500-meter run (4:23.28). The senior from Russia, Ohio has set four school record this season after posting record in the 800, 1000, and mile during the indoor season. She also owns the school outdoor record in the 800-meter run and is a member of Ohio State’s school-record distance medley and 4×800-meter relay teams.
In the 10,000-meter run, juniors Sakiko and Minori Minagawa posted the No. 2 and No.3 times in school history, crossing the finish line in 34:27.31 and 34:34.82, respectively.
Senior Chesna Sykes was third in the 100-meter dash in 11.77 seconds. She ran a season-best time of 11.75 in preliminary heats.
The 400-meter hurdles featured a fourth-place finish by junior Alexis Franklin in a time of 59.49, a Top-20 performance in Division I in 2015.
On the men’s side, senior Jackson Neff, the 2014 Big Ten champion in the steeplechase, set a new personal-best time in the event, completing his race in 8:45.37. It is the sixth-fastest time in Division I so far this season.
In the 400-meter dash, junior Champ Page placed third overall in a time of 46.93. Page ranks 10th nationally in the event this season. Senior Antonio Blanks was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 52.66 seconds.
Big Ten freshman of the year Zack Bazile was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 7.42 meters (24-4.25). Bazile currently ranks eighth in Division I this season in the event (7.56 meters/24-9.75).
