COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State men’s golf team teed off action at the 44th edition of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Saturday on the par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course at the OSU Golf Club. The Buckeyes head into the final round of competition tied for second place behind tournament leader Georgia Tech with a team score of 2-over 570 through 36 holes of play.
Four Buckeyes enter Sunday’s final round in Top-25 contention, highlighted by redshirt junior Grant Weaver and sophomore Clark Engle who sit in the top five among all players. Weaver is in fourth place after posting six birdies in his second round to notch a team-low 4-under 67, totaling a two-round score of 3-under 139. He combined for a team-high 10 birdies in his two rounds of play. Engle recorded an even-par 71 in the first round before earning a 1-under 70 in the second to tie for fifth place with a two-round score of 1-under 141.
Junior Tee-k Kelly tallied a pair of 72s to tie for 16th with a 2-over 144. After recording a 6-over 77 in his first round, redshirt senior Logan Jones strung together four birdies in the front nine of the second round en route to a 2-under 69. The Dublin, Ohio native is tied for 24th with a two-round score of 4-over 146. Senior Boo Timko rounded out the Buckeye lineup, recording a 15-over 157 through two rounds.
Junior Sean Busch, sophomore Addison Coll and redshirt freshman Josh Wick competed as individuals for the Buckeyes. Busch crafted a 5-over 147 with a first round score of 75 and second round score of 72, while Coll and Wick tied for 45th with a two-round total of 8-over 150.
The final round of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate is slated to begin Sunday with tee times off No. 1 and 10 starting at 8 a.m. ET. Georgia Tech leads the team leaderboard with a 6-under 562 and are led by defending champion Ollie Schniederjans who is in first amongst all players with a 5-under 137.
