WEATHER FORECAST
Weather Channel is predicting two days of sunshine this entire week, and they just so happen to be Saturday and Sunday, the days of competition. While the forecasted chance of precipitation is zero percent both days, heavy rains in the area for the past few days will force players to navigate wet conditions. Winds are not expected to surpass 10 mph throughout, however.
LAST TIME OUT ON THE SCARLET COURSE
Things went well the last time Ohio State competed on the Scarlet Course. The Buckeyes cleared the field by a dozen strokes in the Jack Nicklaus Invitational hosted in Columbus back in September. Clark Engle and Tee-k Kelly each laid claim to a share of third place on the individual leaderboard.
HIGH FIVE FOR TOP-5’S
Ohio State has placed inside the top-5 in five of eight stroke play events this season, including a pair of tournament titles at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational (Sept. 28-29) and Intercollegiate at The Grove (Oct. 26-28).
Clark Engle has competed in seven tournaments during his sophomore campaign, climbing into the individual top-5 in four of them. His best effort came at the Intercollegiate at The Grove, bringing home medalist honors with a 3-under 213.
UPPERCLASSMEN STEADY PRESENCE
Boo Timko and Grant Weaver have competed in all 24 rounds this season and have combined to contribute 40.5 of a possible 48 scores to the team tally. The Timko-Weaver duo has combined for four top-10 and eight top-25 results this season. Timko has 23 top-25 showings and 10 top-10 performances in his career while Weaver has tallied 14 and 6 of his own.
JANE AND WALT DENNIS GOLF PERFORMANCE CENTER RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
The Jane and Walt Dennis Golf Performance Center, home of the Ohio State University men’s and women’s golf programs, has been named a Design Excellence Recognition Program Award recipient by the American Society of Golf Course Architects.
The Dennis Golf Performance Center was recognized “for combining the practicality of artificial turf with creative golf course design techniques to produce a unique indoor golf practice center.”
ENGLE EMERGES IN THE FALL
Sophomore Clark Engle climbed into the Golfweek Top-100 this Fall, ascending as high as No. 73 by semester’s end. He made the biggest individual jump of all Division-I players in Golfweek’s rankings during the Fall season after pacing Ohio State with a 71.5 strokes average in 12 rounds played. He tallied seven scores under par, including four rounds dipped down into the 60s. Engle saved the best for last, going out with his first career medalist honors. He earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week laurels following the Intercollegiate at The Grove individual title
