Ohio State Enters Final Round in Seventh Place at Desert Mountain Intercollegiate – Ohio State Buckeyes

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Ohio State University men’s golf team logged 36 holes on the Desert Mountain Golf Club’s Outlaw Course Friday (March 6), emerging in seventh place (+26) with one round to play. The Buckeyes are paired with Marquette and Nebraska for the final 18 holes, slated for an 11:15 a.m. ET tee time.
Ohio State dropped in a tournament-best four eagles on the day, including a trifecta in the opening round. Grant Weaver, Tee-k Kelly and Clark Engle each tallied eagles while Weaver and Kelly were matched by Boo Timko and Addison Coll at 2-over 74 and a share of 13th place. As a team, the Buckeyes sat in second place and lone stroke out of first place after the first circuit around the course.
Weaver eagled the 532-yard, Par 5 16th for a second time in round two, leading to a 3-over 75 and overall score of 149 (+5) to remain in the individual Top-20 (T-18th). Addison Coll isn’t far behind in a tie for 24th place at 6-over 150 (74-76). The sophomore racked up eight birdies, third most of all players. Boo Timko is hot on their trails, one shot back at 151 (+7). The Girard, Ohio native recorded the field’s third most pars, compiling 25 in 36 holes played.
Engle and Kelly each contributed one score to the team tally. Kelly provided a 74 in round number one while Engle chipped in with a 78 in the second stanza following his first round 76 (154; +10) for a share of 37th place. Kelly added an 84 to his early effort, settling in a tie for 49th at 14-over (158). Playing as an individual, Josh Wick matched Kelly with a 158 of his own. He etched consecutive 79s to earn his piece of 49th place.
