Ohio State Sits Third Entering Final Round of Web.com Intercollegiate – Ohio State Buckeyes

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Ohio State University women’s golf team gave itself a chance at consecutive tournament titles and the 100th team crown in program history by carding a 36-hole total of 572 (-4) on Day One of the Web.com Intercollegiate. The Buckeyes are slotted third of 17 teams with one round left to play Tuesday (March 31) morning.
Ohio State followed an even par 288 in the opening round with a 4-under 284 the second time around. The Buckeyes trail second-place Florida State by a lone stroke and need to make up nine shots in the final round to catch tournament leader Miami (FL).
Sophomore Katja Pogacar posted scores of 72-70 to pace OSU at 2-under; good for a share of sixth place on the overall individual leaderboard. Fellow second-year players Jessica Porvasnik and Rio Watanabe also cracked the top-10 after 36 holes, emerging even on the day. Porvasnik went 71-73 while Watanabe rebounded from a 75 in the first round and fired a team-best 69 in round number two.
Senior captains Jan Chanpalangsri and Clauida Lim filled out the rest of the Buckeye lineup. Chanpalangsri is tied for 15th with tallies of 73-72. She has racked up three top-5, four top-10 and six top-25 finishes in eight events thus far in 2014-15. Lim got off to a good start and contributed a 72 to the team tally in round one before settling for a 77 in the afternoon round.
Zoe-Beth Brake is in the 96-player field as well, representing Ohio State as an individual. She owns a piece of 47th place (78-72).
