Second-Round Push Raises OSU Up to Seventh-Place Tie – Ohio State Buckeyes

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Ohio State shaved 17 strokes off its team tally between Monday’s first and second rounds at the Lone Star Invitational. The Buckeyes followed an opening score of 294 with an 11-under 274 in the day’s second trip around the course. Overall, Ohio State is tied for seventh place entering Tuesday’s final round.
Tee-k Kelly ignited the sizzling second round, diving five shots under par by etching a 67 onto his scorecard. The Wheaton, Ill., native added a 72 in the first round and is knocking on the door of an individual top-5 finish. At 5-under, Kelly is only four strokes back from the tournament leader, Hannes Ronneblad of Texas Tech.
Ohio State is 17-under as a team on Par 5s, tied for second best in the entire field. Kelly has played a large role as the event’s top Par 5 performer through 36 holes (-7).
Grant Weaver broke the par barrier twice, carding scores of 71-70 (-3). He is contending for yet another top-25 showing, having already notched 14 his Buckeye career.
Addison Coll and Boo Timko contributed a pair of scores to the team tally as well. Coll registered rounds of 74-71 (+1) and is tied for 37th place individually. Timko, tied for 46th, rebounded in his second 18 holes firing a 69 following a 77 in the opener.
Clark Engle rounded out the Buckeye lineup, shooting 78-72 (+6) for a share of 63rd place.
