Ohio State Completes Day One at NCAAs – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State student-athletes collected six Second Team All-America awards on the first day of competition at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., Friday evening.
Redshirt freshman Donovan Robertson got things started for the Buckeyes with a 13th-place finish in the men’s 60-meter hurdle semifinals. Robertson placed sixth in his heat – which witnessed two false starts – in a time of 7.89 seconds.
The men’s 400-meter semifinals featured sophomore LaMar Bruton and junior Champ Page. Bruton challenged 2014 Bowerman winner Deon Lendore of Texas A&M early in his heat before fading down the stretch for a 12th-place overall time of 46.82. Page fell behind early in section three and never recovered, taking 16th in 47.57 seconds.
Competing in the women’s 60-meter semifinal, senior Chesna Sykes placed seventh in her heat and 14th overall in a time of 7.45 seconds.
Senior Katie Borchers turned in the top performance of the day for Ohio State, running the seventh-best time overall in the semifinals (2:05.08) of the women’s 800-meter run. Competing in the second of two semifinal heats, which featured the seven fastest times on the day, Borchers fell just shy of advancing to the finals by virtue of the Top-3 finishers in the first heat qualifying automatically to the championship race.
In the field, senior Abie Ehimwenman finished 14th in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.77 meters (18-11.25).
Page and Bruton will join senior Timothy Faust and redshirt junior Antonio Blanks in the finals of the men’s 4×400-meter relay tomorrow at 9:45 p.m. ET.
