COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 22nd-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team (5-2, 0-0 B1G) is slated to compete in the 2015 Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Friday through Sunday in Montgomery, Ala. Ranked as the No. 2 seed, the Buckeyes will open the tournament against Tulane at 3 p.m. ET Friday.
HOW IT WORKS?
No. 22 Ohio State will be joined at the event by an elite field of competition, including No. 8 and top-seeded Alabama, No. 25 Texas Tech, No. 49 DePaul, No. 60 Princeton, No. 61 Yale, Tulane and Boise State. Semifinal action is set for Saturday with the championship match to be played on Sunday. Backdraw matches will also be played.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the Blue Gray National Tennis classic will recognize a team champion, most valuable player and sportsmanship award recipient.

LAST TIME AT BLUE GRAY
Ohio State appeared in the 2013 edition of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic and finished fourth. The Buckeyes went 1-2 in the tournament, sweeping Boise State in the opener, but falling in the match for third place to No. 34 Yale, 4-1. Last season, Alabama was named the 2014 Blue Gray National Tennis Classic champion.
BUCKEYES TOP NO. 31 TENNESSEE AND NO. 19 GEORGIA TECH ON ROAD
The Buckeyes crafted a pair of impressive road wins last weekend as they swept No. 31 Tennessee and captured a 4-3 victory vs. No. 19 Georgia Tech. Down 3-2 to the Yellow Jackets, freshman Olivia Sneed saved match point with a win on court six and Ferny Angeles Paz sealed the program’s first victory vs. Georgia Tech with a three-set triumph at No. 4.
The win vs. No. 19 Georgia Tech marked Ohio State’s first win vs. a Top 20 opponent since the Scarlet and Gray defeated No. 15 Fresno State, 6-1, on Jan. 30, 2010.
NOTING THE BUCKEYES
• The Buckeyes are ranked in the Top 25 of the ITA poll for the first time since Feb. 20, 2010.
• Ohio State is 5-0 when claiming the double point this season.
• The Buckeyes are undefeated on courts four (5-0), five (6-0) and six (5-0) this spring.
• Olivia Sneed is a perfect 4-0 this spring and 11-0 overall in her rookie season.
• No. 125 Sandy Niehaus and Miho Kowase tie with a team-high six wins in singles play this spring.
• The Buckeyes are 3-2 vs. ranked opponents this spring.
