COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State cruised to victories in both the men’s and women’s 4×400-meter relay on the final day of competition at the SPIRE DI Invitational Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
In the men’s final, junior Champ Page, redshirt junior Antonio Blanks, junior Deshawn Marshall and sophomore LaMar Bruton combined for a winning run of 3:07.84, the top time in the Big Ten this season and the fifth fastest in Division I. The winning time also ranks fifth all-time in Ohio State indoor history.
A season-best time of 3:38.63 was posted by freshman Beatrice Hannan, junior SoSo Walker, redshirt junior Aisha Cavin and sophomore Aaliyah Barnes in the women’s final, the third-best time in school indoor history and a Top-30 performance nationally.
In individual competition, senior Katie Borchers broke yet another school record Saturday – her third of season – with a time of 4:41.19 in the mile. The third-place time broke the previous record set by Maureen Cogan in 1984 by nearly four seconds and ranks third in the Big Ten this season and 16th in the NCAA. Borchers has now set three school records this season: the mile, the 1000-meter run and the 800-meter run.
A first-place finish in the 60-meter dash by senior Chesna Sykes was also a highlight. Sykes crossed the finish line in 7.35 seconds, six-tenths of a second ahead of runner-up Shaina Harrison of Syracuse (7.41 seconds). The Columbus, Ohio, native is the current Big Ten leader in the event and 12th in the NCAA this year with a season-best time of 7.30 seconds.

On the men’s side, redshirt junior J.C. Murasky turned in the top finish of the day, taking second in the shot put with a 19.03-meter (62-5.25) heave, an indoor personal best. The distance ranks fourth all-time in OSU indoor history and 24th in Division I this year.
