Buckeyes Head to California for Jack Kramer Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Members of the Ohio State women’s tennis team will compete in the Jack Kramer Invitational Thursday through Monday at the Jack Kramer Club in Rolling Hills, Calif. Representing Ohio State in the tournament are senior Grainne O’Neill, juniors Sandy Niehaus and Ferny Angeles Paz and sophomore Olivia Sneed.
Joining the Buckeyes in the tournament are players from Arizona, Baylor, Cal State Fullerton, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Pepperdine, San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and Washington.
Buckeyes Heading to ITA National Indoor Championships
Next week, three Buckeyes will participate in the prestigious ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. The doubles tandem of junior Miho Kowase and sophomore Anna Sanford clinched a spot by winning the ITA Midwest Regional title. This week, freshman Francesca Di Lorenzo was added to the singles draw as a USTA selection.
By the Numbers this Fall
Junior Ferny Angeles Paz leads Ohio State with seven singles wins this year, while Miho Kowase is second with six victories. Senior Nicole Flower has posted five singles wins, while juniors Sandy Niehaus, sophomore Olivia Sneed and freshman Francesca Di Lorenzo each have four wins.
In doubles, Angeles Paz also leads, notching nine victories. Kowase is second with eight, while Niehaus has seven victories. The tandem of Angeles Paz and Niehaus is 6-1 this fall, with Kowase and junior Anna Sanford 5-0 after claiming the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.
Last Time Out
Ohio State picked up 10 singles wins and 10 doubles wins at the UT Fall Invite last weekend in Knoxville, Tenn. Sophomore Olivia Sneed was 3-0 to lead the way, including a win over No. 26-ranked Desirae Krawczyk of Arizona State. Juniors Sandy Niehaus and Ferny Angeles Paz were both 2-1 and classmate Miho Kowase was 2-0. In doubles, the tandem of Niehaus and Angeles Paz posted an upset of the No. 6-ranked team from Arizona State.
