Buckeyes Conclude Action at UT Fall Invite – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team closed out action at the UT Fall Invite hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., Sunday. The Buckeyes were 3-3 vs. Arizona State in singles and swept Tennessee in doubles on the tournament’s final day. Sophomore Olivia Sneed led the way with a win over No. 26-ranked Desirae Krawczyk in singles and also picked up a shutout victory in doubles with senior Grâinne O’Neill.
In addition to Sneed’s three-set victory (7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-2) over Krawczyk, junior Ferny Angeles Paz won in three sets vs. the Sun Devils’ Kassidy Jump, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Junior Sandy Niehaus posted a straight set victory over Stephanie Vlad, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles vs. the Volunteers, Sneed/O’Neill shut out Bongart/Lindl, 6-0 and Niehaus/Ferny Angeles Paz topped Hammond/Repic, 6-2. Senior Nicole Flower and freshman Andrea Ballinger were 6-4 winners over Tavares/Taylor.
In the tournament, the Buckeyes were a combined 10-10 in singles and 9-3 in doubles. Sneed picked up a team-best three wins in the tournament, while Angeles Paz, Niehaus and Miho Kowase each had two victories.
Next up, the Buckeyes are scheduled to play in the Jack Kramer Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif., Thursday through Sunday, followed by Miho Kowase and Anna Sanford heading to New York for the ITA National Indoor Championships Nov. 12-15.
