PORTLAND, Ore. – Clark Engle’s career-low 65 on Day Two of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational leapfrogged him into the Top-5 and his final-round 70 kept him there. The junior from Springfield, Ohio, tied for fifth place to earn his sixth career Top-5 finish and first of the 2015-16 season.
Engle carded subsequent scores of 71-65-70 to dip nine strokes under par overall. He has now contributed to the team tally in all 12 rounds this season. Tee-k Kelly started an impressive charge of his own during the second day of competition. He fired back-to-back 68’s to climb up into a tie for 19th place. Kelly began the tournament with a 74 on the Ghost Creek Course before finding his groove on the Witch Hollow Course in the final two rounds. Kelly’s career Top-25 performance total moves to a dozen following his latest such effort. His 15 total birdies were a team high.
Will Grimmer, Addison Coll and Josh Wick donned the Scarlet & Gray as well. Grimmer opened with a 72, and then tallied rounds of 74-78. He buried two eagles as one of just seven players to record multiple eagles. Wick’s scorecards showed rounds of 75-79-77 (+16).
